The Record
Qingdao Port metals case
Qingdao Port, China · Metals — Dezheng Resources / Decheng Mining Between 2012 and 2014, the firm forged and duplicated warehouse receipts for aluminum, alumina, and copper stored at Chinese ports.Pledging the same metal as collateral for more than $1.7 billion in bank loans that were never fully backed by real inventory. Founder Chen Jihong convicted; sentenced to 23 years in prison.
Hin Leong oil case
Singapore · Oil — Hin Leong Trading Facing mounting losses, the firm fabricated oil sales contracts and forged supporting documents to secure over US$111 million in financing from HSBC. One of several lenders exposed when the company's true inventory proved a fraction of what its paperwork claimed. Founder Lim Oon Kuin convicted; currently serving a 13.5-year sentence.

"The fraud hasn't gotten louder. It's gotten quieter, and it lands squarely in the commodities Saab Holdings trades every day."
01 / TRACK RECORD
Track Record
Saab has completed a range of transactions in the commodity space . Across crude oil, gold, refined fuels, and agricultural commodities , alongside the financing of numerous resource commercialization projects.
02 / DISCIPLINE
Discipline
No deviation from the international trade standards set by the ICC - UCP 600 letters of credit and ICC Incoterms® rules paired with independent assay via SGS, BV, or Cotecna.
03 / REACH
Reach
Based out of the United Kingdom, with active operations across Canada, Middle East and Africa , spanning West, Central, and Eastern African markets.
04 / TRADE FINANCE
Trade Finance
Fluent across the instruments that make a transaction bankable: LC (MT700, UCP 600), SBLC (MT760), DLC, and SWIFT MT103 settlement. Saab does not deploy its own balance sheet against unverified paper. Where a transaction is real and needs capital, Saab arranges it through banks, investors, and financing partners against the transaction, not against the promise.
What We Trade
Crude Oil
Sourcing and delivery of light, medium, and heavy crude grades from established North American, Caspian, West & North African, and Gulf producers. Structured across FOB, CIF, STS (Ship-to-Ship), and VTO (Vessel Take Over) arrangements. Priced against WTI, Brent, or Dubai depending on origin and destination ,the benchmark sets the baseline; grade and location set the differential.
Petroleum Products
EN590 Diesel (10ppm), Jet Fuel (A1/TS-1), Fuel Oil (MAZUT/M100), and LPG sourced and delivered on CIF terms, with SGS Report and Dip Test Authorization at the loading port, full documentary compliance at every stage.

On production contracts: An SBLC is the standard security instrument behind a legitimate refinery production contract ,not a request that should raise concern, but the mechanism that makes the contract bankable in the first place.
Gold
Active gold trading across Tanzania, Ghana, Guinea, Dubai, and Hong Kong. With a new counterparty, the first shipment moves before any instrument is opened, delivered on trial to the buyer's refinery of choice, with payment released only after independent assay.
Agricultural Commodities
Bulk supply of urea, seeds, fruit and vegetables, industrial hemp, sugar, and rice , delivered FOB or CIF against independently verified quality certificates.Â
Water
Commercialization of artesian water assets and bulk water supply. Water futures.
Trade Finance
Capital Arrangement, Not Direct Deployment
Saab does not lend against a transaction it hasn't verified, and it does not put its own capital behind a counterparty's word. Where a deal is real, Saab arranges the capital sourced from its network of banks, investors, and financing partners structured against the transaction itself. The debt is repaid by the sale, not by Saab's credit. That distinction is what makes a structure bankable, and it's what keeps Saab out of the paper that isn't.
Letters of Credit & Standby Instruments
LC (MT700, UCP 600), SBLC (MT760), DLC, and SWIFT MT103 settlement. Every instrument is verified at the issuing bank before it's relied on not after. Cash-backed, purchased, divisible, assignable, transferable: that's a working instrument. Anything leased, blocked, or "held for future use" isn't a security mechanism. It's a workaround.
Pre-Payment & Offtake
Where a producer needs capital to move product and Saab needs security of supply, a pre-payment or offtake structure does both funds move against a defined volume and delivery schedule, with fallback provisions if the underlying commodity's value shifts before delivery. It's the standard mechanism for building supply out of cash-constrained, resource-rich jurisdictions.
Documentary Chain
A financed trade doesn't move on trust , it moves on paper, in sequence. Production is proven before the cargo exists commercially: mining lot numbers, smelter batch or injection reports, assay reports, tank storage receipts, q88's etc. Custody is proven before it's insurable: warehouse receipts, packing lists, bill of lading. Condition and quantity are proven before a bank will touch it: independent inspection from SGS, BV, or Cotecna. Only once that stack is complete does title transfer, and only once title transfers does the instrument release , SWIFT MT700 or MT760 opens the facility, MT103 confirms the payment. The bank isn't financing the commodity. It's financing the paper trail behind it. Break the sequence anywhere, and the money doesn't move.
Sixty-four squares. Never a game of chance.
Sam Saab
Sam Saab has spent close to fifteen years trading physical commodities and ten years commercializing resource assets . Structuring more than $250 million in physical trades across crude, gold, refined fuels, and agricultural markets, and raising over $120 million in capital for private and public companies along the way. He has built and sold ventures of his own, and taken five resource assets from the ground to commercial reality.
Â
That record was built in person, across more than fifty countries, in rooms with miners, ministers, venture capitalists, and government officials, the kind of experience that teaches what actually makes a deal bankable, and what makes it verifiable. Business is the art of mitigating risk. Trade depends on nothing else.
Â
Sam holds the FIDE Master title in competitive chess, and the discipline carries over directly. Chess is not a game of chance. Sixty-four squares, a fixed set of rules, and a narrow range of moves that actually hold up under pressure. Everything else is just probability, calculated in advance. Trade works the same way: real standards, real boundaries, and a narrow set of structures that keep a transaction safe.

Engagement Model
Three ways to the table.
01
Advisory / Per Transaction
Engaged deal-by-deal to structure and de-risk a single transaction, from counterparty verification through to settlement terms.
02
Retained / Ongoing Structuring
A standing consulting relationship for buyers, sellers, or financiers with continuous sourcing or structuring needs.
03
Principal / Buyer or Seller of Record
Saab acts directly as principal where the transaction calls for it, rather than purely advisory standing.
The Game
ANDERSSEN vs. KIESERITZKY · LONDON · JUNE 1851 · KING'S GAMBIT
Material was never the objective. Position was.
Below is the Immortal Game
Anderssen vs. Kieseritzky, London, 1851
Rendered in three dimensions and replayed move by move. In the King's Gambit, White offers a pawn on move two. Black takes it, and the position never recovers. The hardest part of any transaction isn't negotiating the terms. It's knowing whether what's in front of you is real ,verified before it's ever trusted. That discipline is what Saab Holdings brings to every transaction it structures.
VERIFICATION
Our firm provides physical inspection and independent assay via SGS, BV, or Cotecna before settlement.
STRUCTURE
Cross-border commercial framework in alignment with ICC regulations.
